Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty petition hand-in

On 14 Novem­ber, mem­bers of Protest in Har­mo­ny were at the Scot­tish par­lia­ment in Holy­rood to sup­port the hand­ing in of a peti­tion to sup­port a glob­al exit plan from fos­sil fuels. The peti­tion was organ­ised by Glob­al Jus­tice Now and Friends of the Earth, and oth­er groups sup­port­ing the call for a treaty includ­ed Par­ents for Future UK, Chris­t­ian Action and North Sea Knit­ters.

The First Min­is­ter, John Swin­ney, didn’t come out, so the North Sea Knit­ters went in to present the peti­tion to him. PiH sang three songs, ably led by Ian Davies: Bel­la Ciao (We need to wake up) and Anoth­er World between poems and the choir fin­ished the whole event with a stir­ring ren­di­tion of Leave the Oil in the Ground.
